Newsletter, November 2017

I noticed a chill to the air when I inhaled the other morning. In Canada it would have been crisp with the promise of snow but in Somerset it was dense, laden with moisture, promising rain and reminding you to put your thick socks on under your wellies.

Autumn goods have also been coming into the deli like Herby4’s Spiced Chaider – a blend of Quantocks apple juice and warming winter spices. We’re also proud to have a number of new pates and rillettes from Cornish Charcuterie and some new salamis from Somerset Charcuterie and The Real Cure from Dorset. We’re also trialling some blue sheep cheese in the form of Beenleigh Blue from Ticklemore Cheese in south Devon.

We’d like to thank everyone who made our first two events successful and we’ve extended your thanks out to Bini Ludlow and Jack Pike for giving up their time to treat you to their fine curries and ales. A special thanks has to go to Evan Jensen as well for his fantastic Spooky Cookie decorating afternoon which was very well attended. Our next events are as follows:

November 9th: Christmas Launch & Buffalo Cook-offJonathon Corpe from West Country Water Buffalo will be cooking some of his ultra-lean and healthy water buffalo while the shops and the centre open late until 8pm for their Christmas range launches. Harrys Cider will also be serving their mulled cider to warm you up!

December 1st: Smith & Evans Wine & Cheese tastingGuy Smith will be talking about his wines, what they pair with and the shining prospects for the southwest wine industry.

Finally a little reminder that there’s still time to order a Christmas hamper or have one posted to a special friend so please pop your name and number on the sign-up sheet then relax knowing you’ve got Christmas out of the way. Oh, is this the right time to mention that we do Gift Certificates in the shop? I thought so!
