Artisan bread handmade to a traditional recipe

Whether you want to learn how to make sourdough bread, how to bake or how to make no knead artisan bread in five minutes a day or not bother with all that and simply leave it to us, pop into the deli and buy freshly baked artisan sourdough bread we can help.

Deciding to learn how to bake was one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. It’s taken me all over the world and I’ve met some fabulous people doing it. It still amazes me each day when I pull some crusty artisan bread from the oven, created from a no knead bread recipe using techniques and tips that I’ve developed over the dozen or so years that I’ve been baking.

If you come on one of my bread making courses I’ll teach you all sorts of artisan bread recipes such as focaccia, pain d’epi, baguettes, rolls, bannock and of course my traditional crusty loaf recipe. I’ve been dubbed the Lazy Baker, not due to shirking my workload rather that I cut through the baking jargon and the bread myths to make a simple and stress-free baking experience for everybody.

I also run more in-depth baking courses and an intermediate bread course where we explore wheat vs spelt recipes, enriched doughs, added ingredient doughs like walnut and cranberry and different shaping techniques like fougasse and plaits. We run seasonal courses like the Sharing Bread class and the Christmas Bread Wreath class, so keep an eye on our course and events calendar or better yet sign up to our foodie fanzine so you never miss out on an event or a recipe!

We run bread baking courses for kids as well as the extremely popular cookie decorating classes for kids and adults alike! In fact we tailor birthday parties around these for groups of up to nine children plus a carer or two! And if you just want to drop in and buy yourself some shopping time we have a Cookie Decoration Station in the deli that will keep the little ones amused for ages.

FInally we run more advanced baking classes like our sourdough bread course where you learn how to make sourdough starter, how to maintain sourdough starter and how what you do with it affects it’s flavour and characteristics. I’ll also tell you how to use sourdough discard in order to reap the health benefits of sourdough. And of course we’ll bake some sourdough bread too which you’ll be able to take home and devour with your friends and family!
